Americanized Spaghetti Fixins

It's spaghetti! American style.

Ingredients

  • 2lb. ground beef
  • 24oz. tomato sauce
  • 8oz. tomato paste
  • one half cup chopped fresh onion
  • one half cup chopped fresh sweet bell pepper
  • one hefty tablespoon italian seasoning mix
  • one packet dry onion soup mix
  • one cup chopped fresh mushrooms (optional) or one cup enoki mushrooms (excellent)
  • one quarter teaspoon ground fennel (optional)

Method


Brown and drain burger.

Return to medium heat, add sauce and paste, then stir.

Add remaining ingredients and stir.

When sauce starts to bubble, cover the pan and reduce heat to low.

Simmer for one to two hours.

This sauce seems to pick up even more flavor after refrigeration! Portions can be frozen and used later in dishes such as lasagna or manicotti. Try sauce over hot dogs!
