Ingredients

  • 5 1/2 lbs cooking apples
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 2-3 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Method


Peel, core and quarter apples. Combine with the water in a large stockpot and cook until tender. Place cooked apples in blender or food processor and blend until smooth.

Combine pureed apples, sugar, cinnamon, cloves and salt in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours. Stir occasionally.

Spoon into freezer containers, cover and cool. Refrigerate or freeze.

Note: For thicker butter uncover and summer until thick.
