Granny's Sugar Cookies
crispy sugar cookie
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 medium egg or 2 small egg yolks
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Method
Cream together: butter and sugar
Blend in the egg
Sift together and add: salt, baking powder, flour
Blend into mixture: vanilla
Roll out on floured surface and cut into desired shapes. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet in 400 degree preheated oven for 8 – 10 minutes.
Cookies can be glazed with: 3/4 c. powdered sugar
3 – 4 tsp. water
food coloring
Brush cookies with glaze while still warm.
Dough may be chilled.
