Serbian Rice Pilaf (Vegetarian)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white rice or round brown rice
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 large onion (diced)
  • 1 medium-sized carrot (grated)
  • 1 large red bell pepper (diced)
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon ground pepper
  • 3 tablespoon sesame oil (can use substitutes - canola, olive...)
  • sea salt (to taste)

Method


<p>Heat oil in a large pan. Add chopped onion; sauté for 3 minutes. Add grated carrots and diced peppers.</p> <p>Add rice and 3 cups water; stir until all ingredients are evenly spread.</p> <p>Add paprika, salt and pepper.</p> <p>Let boil for 5 minutes over medium heat. Remove from heat and cover with a lid. Let rest until water is absorbed by rice (10-15 minutes).</p> <p>Garnish with fresh herbs.</p>
