Stolen from my Italian chef of an uncle, this is the tastiest spaghetti sauce I've ever had.
Brown the ground beef and sausage, drain.
In a large crock pot or stockpot combine all wet ingredients and tomato based ingredients. Add ground sausage and beef. Add remaining ingredients and stir to incorporate.
For the crock pot, set to low or medium and cook for 6-8 hours. Or set to high and cook for 3-4 hours. Temperature setting will predicate how much attention / stirring must be done. Hotter temperatures may blacken some ingredients too quickly against the bottom or side of the crock pot. Watch carefully.
For the stock pot, keep on a low-medium heat, lightly simmering, and stir every 20-30 minutes to prevent sticking and distribute heat.
