Baked Pasta with Pesto, Mozzerella, and Meat Sauce

A kid favorite and good make-ahead meal


  • olive oil
  • 1 onion - diced
  • 4 cloves garlic - crushed
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
  • salt
  • 1/2 c basil pesto
  • 3/4 lb medium pasta shells or penne
  • 6 oz shredded mozzerella
  • 1/4 c grated parmesan


Heat oven to 400. Oil large baking dish. Heat oil in frying pan. Add onion and cook for about 3 minutes. Stir in ground meat an d cook through. Add tomatoes and salt and simmer for about 10 minutes. Stir in pesto. While meat is cooking, cook noodles until just about done. Drain and toss with sauce. Transfer 1/2 of pasta into baking dish and top with 1/2 of mozzerella and 2 tbs of parm. Repeat with remaining pasta and cheeses. Bake about 15 minutes or until bubbling.
