"Blonde" Brownies
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and add to butter mixture. Add nuts. Pour batter into an 8 x 11†pan that has been greased. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35 – 40 minutes. The brownies will rise while baking, but they will collapse when removed from the oven. This is what gives them their density. This recipe makes about 2 dz. Squares.
Glaze: Melt butter, brown sugar, milk and vanilla on low heat. Mix together until well blended. Add the powdered sugar. As you are mixing, it will start to harden somewhat. Add more or less powered sugar and milk to make a pourable icing. Spread over the brownies when cool. Sprinkle nuts over the top if desired.
