A family recipe that I probably shouldn't be sharing... I'm also pretty sure my wife married me because of this recipe but can't be sure. This recipe is an excellent side to any dish with spice (most mexican and spanish dishes)
Chop up your garlic, cilantro and onion
Wash your rice in a colander -- this is unique, and will wash out the starch from the rice
Heat the oil and butter in a heavy bottom dish
Saute the onion and garlic for 3 minutes
Add the rice and pasta until brown
Add cilantro and saute for another minute
Add chicken stock, bring to a boil
Reduce heat, cover and cook for 30 minutes
