Ingredients

  • 1 deep dish pie crust
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 med. onion, chopped
  • 1 pkg. taco seasoning
  • 1 can refried beans (16 oz. can) (or not)
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 jar taco sauce, divided usage (8 oz.)
  • 2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese, divided usage
  • 12 oz. pkg. tortilla chips (Nacho), crushed
  • shredded lettuce

Method


Preheat oven and cookie sheet to 400 degrees. Thaw crust 10 minutes. Prick sides and bottom of pie crust with fork. Bake crust on cookie sheet for 10 minutes. Remove crust; reduce heat to 350 degrees. In skillet, brown ground beef with onion, drain fat. Add taco seasoning to meat, follow package directions.

In a small bowl, mix refried beans and 1/3 cup taco sauce mix. Layer 1/2 of refried bean mixture in crust. Top with 1/2 of meat mixture, 1/2 of cheese and chips. Repeat layers, exclude chips. Bake on remaining cheese and chips. Bake on hot cookie sheet for 20-25 minutes. Remove from oven. Top with lettuce and tomato. Add additional taco sauce to taste.

I didn't have potatoes so I substituted rice I didn't have paprika so I used another spice I didn't have tomato sauce so I used tomato paste A whole can-not a half can-I don't believe in waste. A friend gave me the recipe She said you couldn't beat it There must be something wrong with her I couldn't even eat it!
