yummy~You can also pat the dough into cake pans and bake like a cake.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup each white and brown sugar
  • 1 cup shortening ( original recipe used lard)
  • 1 cup molasses or sorghum
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons ginger
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 cup milk
  • self rising flour

Method


beat shortening sugar,molasses beat in eggs one at a time sift ginger and soda with 1 cup of flour beat into the mixture along with the milk work in enough additional flour to get the consistency of a biscuit dough pinch off pieces , dip them in flour and roll them between your palm and pat them out like biscuits

bake in greased pan at 350 for about 12 minutes until done.

I didn't have potatoes so I substituted rice I didn't have paprika so I used another spice I didn't have tomato sauce so I used tomato paste A whole can-not a half can-I don't believe in waste. A friend gave me the recipe She said you couldn't beat it There must be something wrong with her I couldn't even eat it!
