Easy and delicious, despite the minimal ingredients. Doesn't get any better than that!

Ingredients

  • Optional: Ham or Turkey Ham, or even Polish Sausage
  • Even add barley if wanted
  • 1 lb. dry green split peas
  • 1 lb. Polish sausage (more if you like meaty soup)
  • 1 qt. water
  • 1 med. white onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, chopped into 1/8 inch thick pieces

Method

Soak split peas in water overnight. Place in crock pot with fresh water (you may need to add more later if soup becomes too thick). Cut Polish sausage into pieces approximately 1/4 inch thick. Add onions and carrots and cook on high for 3 to 5 hours. Salt and pepper to taste. (I like to mix noodles with the soup when eating it.)
